Name: Robin Simpson

Hometown: Piney Point, MD.

Occupation:  Public school Teacher

How long have you been a tribe member of CrossFit Lakás?  About 10 months. My initiation began with Boot Camp in the spring of 2014. Following Boot Camp, I become a full fledged member.

What made you decide to do CrossFit?  I was FAT!  Just a blob of flabby fat.  I needed to do something that would get me off my bum & get me in shape.  So I signed up for Boot Camp thinking it would be a good way to restart my exercise program.

What do you love about CrossFit?  I really enjoy the workouts.  I love Deadlifts; I love all weight work. I like seeing my strength & power and watching it increase.

I like how I become so centered  when I am doing a WOD.  I can only focus on the moment I am in; I can’t allow my mind to go beyond my task.  I think that sort of mindfulness makes the workout more enjoyable and rewarding.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit?  First off, I don’t think of myself as a fat blob anymore. I like my body for probably the first time in 20 years.  It’s not a perfect body by any means, but it’s a strong body.  My fitness level has completely changed.  I am extremely proud of my strength and what I am capable of doing that I couldn’t do this time last year.

Do you follow a special nutrition/supplement regimen?  No, we’ve always eaten healthy in our house.  My husband cooks & we don’t eat processed food.  He makes everything fresh.  I have added Fish oil just to keep my joints oiled.

What is your favorite / least favorite WOD?  I really haven’t found a favorite WOD.  I think the hardest one I have attempted so far is the Air Force. I was really new at CrossFit and it really beat me up.  I can’t wait to try it again now that I am stronger.

What are your current goals at the Sweatshop? To be able to do unassisted pull-ups, double-unders, and box jumps.  I have so many things I still need to accomplish, I am just in the early stages of a crossfitter.  But one of the best things about CrossFit is that there is always room for improvement.  I like that, I like the idea that there is always another goal to work toward.

Do you have any advice to someone new at CrossFit Lakás?

Concentrate on what you can do, don’t think about what you might not be able to do.  Just focus on moving through each WOD and when you’re finished, you will have an incredible respect for yourself. BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD.
